Rolling into the Sunshine State With Alta Equipment
Early on a beautiful summer morning, the Takeuchi marketing team packed up and headed south on one of our favorite missions: recognizing excellence. This time, we were bound for Tampa, Florida, to visit one of our outstanding 360° Dealer Award winners — Alta Equipment Company.
Set along Florida’s Gulf Coast, Tampa is a city that mixes business with beach vibes. This place bursts with culture, sunshine and salty breezes. From the historic charm of Ybor City to the modern skyline downtown and the white sands just over the bridge, Tampa is one of the most beautiful cities in the Sunshine State. As one of Florida’s major hubs for construction, infrastructure and logistics, Tampa is a key market for compact equipment, making it an ideal location for a 360°-Award-winning dealer like Alta Equipment.
Alta has been a cornerstone of reliability and performance in the compact construction equipment industry, with a reputation built on more than just sales numbers. Founded in Michigan in 1984, Alta has grown into one of the leading equipment dealers in the country. With locations spread across the Midwest and Southeast, Alta brings a strong customer-first approach where one of their guiding principles is nurturing “customers for life.” They live up to that principle by offering not only equipment but also comprehensive support, rentals, parts and training.
During our visit to Alta’s Tampa location, we saw everything Takeuchi’s 360° Dealer Award stands for — dedication to the brand, deep product knowledge, a top-tier service department and an unbeatable customer experience. The team there has created a culture of excellence that’s as warm as the Florida weather.
While we were excited to visit Alta Equipment, our journey to Tampa didn’t stop there. We hit the road and explored a few nearby counties to see just how diverse and dynamic Alta’s Tampa service area is.
In Hillsborough County, home to Tampa, we saw bustling construction zones and thriving neighborhoods. Growth here is fast paced, and Takeuchi machines are right in the mix. As we headed west into Pinellas County, we rolled through towns like Clearwater, St. Petersburg and Treasure Island — coastal gems with booming development and serious beachfront charm.

While in the area, we had the chance to visit FarMore Construction, LLC, a Tampa-area company with more than 35 years of experience in marine construction, specializing in building docks and seawalls and installing boat lifts. We caught up with them on an impressive job site where they were tackling an 800-foot seawall repair from last year’s hurricanes. This wasn’t your average dig. Working in the Florida heat and salt air, FarMore deployed a Takeuchi TB290 excavator on a barge, excavating 8 to 10 feet deep into dense coral rag limestone to prep for a new PVC seawall and then using a modified vibratory post driver to drive the PVC panels into the sea floor. Meanwhile, on land, a Takeuchi TB216 proved its worth in tight quarters, clearing old sidewalk concrete and carefully digging footers in the narrow space between the road and the seawall. It was a real-world demonstration of Takeuchi’s toughness, power and versatility — exactly what these harsh coastal conditions demand.

Everywhere we went, we saw the impact of Alta Equipment. Whether it was a Takeuchi compact track loader on a job site in St. Pete or a fleet of machines waiting for delivery in Tampa, Alta’s presence was clear. Their commitment to uptime, expert service and customer partnerships sets them apart in every county they serve. Our trip to Tampa reminded us of the incredible people and places that make up the Takeuchi dealer network. With partners like Alta Equipment leading the way in markets like Florida, the future looks as bright as the Sunshine State sky.
Stay tuned as we continue to spotlight the dealers who help us build something better, one community at a time.
