From the state’s First Mountain City to jobsites across North Georgia, Jasper Tractor is building its Takeuchi business one customer at a time.
For this edition of On the Road with Takeuchi, we didn’t have to travel too far from home.
We started at Takeuchi’s North American headquarters in Pendergrass, Georgia, and pointed the truck northwest toward the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. About an hour and a half later, mountains started appearing on the horizon, and we arrived in Jasper, Georgia—home of one of the newest members of the Takeuchi dealer network, .
We also planned to visit several Jasper customers and see Takeuchi equipment at work in applications ranging from large-scale grading and public infrastructure to land clearing with the new TL11R3 compact track loader.
Incorporated in 1857 and known as Georgia’s “First Mountain City,” Jasper has a long history tied to agriculture, construction and Georgia marble, which has been quarried in Pickens County since the 1800s. Marble from the area can be found in places ranging from the U.S. Capitol to landmarks throughout Washington, D.C. Jasper is a place with a long history of people working the land, moving material and building things—and that makes it a pretty fitting home for Jasper Tractor.
A New Takeuchi Dealer with Deep Local Roots
Jasper Tractor is a full-service equipment dealership serving farmers, contractors, landowners and businesses throughout North Georgia. The dealership is part of the Tutton Group, a family of automotive, RV and equipment dealerships with locations across Georgia and Alabama.
General Manager and Partner Zach Cagle leads the Jasper Tractor team. Zach grew up on his family’s dairy farm in nearby Cherokee County, so agriculture and equipment have been part of his life from the beginning. At Jasper Tractor, that means understanding what customers need to accomplish before finding them the right equipment.
Jasper Tractor already had an established agricultural customer base, and adding Takeuchi has allowed the dealership to expand its reach further into the construction, land clearing and commercial markets.
And we didn’t have to travel very far to see just how diverse those customers can be.
Moving Dirt with Dirt Locator
Our first stop took us to a large industrial development where Dirt Locator, LLC was putting a Takeuchi to work grading the site.
On a project this size, there’s plenty of dirt to move—and plenty of ground to cover. Here, the TL12V2 was shaping and grading the site, preparing the property for the roads and warehouses that will eventually take its place.
Watching the TL12V2 work across the site was a good reminder of why Takeuchi compact track loaders have become valuable tool carriers on today’s jobsites. With the ability to run a wide range of attachments, one machine can move material, grade, dig, clear and take on a variety of other tasks throughout the course of a project.
For Jasper Tractor, customers like Dirt Locator represent an important part of its growing construction equipment business: professional contractors who expect their equipment to perform every day and need a dealer that can help keep them working.
Putting the TL11R3 to Work
After moving dirt, we headed into the woods.
Our next visit was with All Point Construction & Remodeling, LLC, where we found Takeuchi’s newest compact track loader, the , equipped with an FAE mulching head and cutting through dense vegetation on an overgrown property.
The TL11R3 was built around a robust attachment platform, with the hydraulic performance and machine power needed to take on demanding applications. On this jobsite, that meant pairing the machine with a high-performance mulcher to cut through dense vegetation and transform an overgrown property.
It was an entirely different application from the grading work we had just watched—and that was the point.
Takeuchi track loaders are designed to be more than machines with buckets. They’re tool carriers that give contractors the ability to change attachments and take on more work with the same machine. For operators throughout North Georgia, that might mean clearing property one day, grading a building site the next and handling material after that.
The TL11R3 builds on that versatility with rugged machine performance, an advanced attachment platform and a refined operator environment designed to keep the operator productive and comfortable throughout the day.
Road Maintenance with Floyd County Public Works
Our final stop took us even farther west toward Cave Spring, Georgia, where we got to see a different application. There, we met up with Floyd County Public Works and a Takeuchi equipped with a NOX tiltrotator.
The Floyd County crew uses its TB2150R for road maintenance, drainage and infrastructure projects throughout the county. Equipped with the tiltrotator, the excavator gives operators the ability to position attachments at angles that would otherwise require repositioning the entire machine. For roadside work, where space can be limited and operators may be working around traffic, ditches, slopes and existing infrastructure, that added flexibility can make a significant difference.
It was a fitting final stop. In just a couple of days, we had seen Takeuchi equipment grading an industrial development, clearing land with a mulcher and maintaining public infrastructure.
Different customers. Different applications. Different parts of North Georgia.
One dealer supporting all of them.
Building Something in North Georgia
As we headed back toward Pendergrass, our trip had given us a pretty good look at the market Jasper Tractor serves. For a dealer that's still relatively new to the Takeuchi network, there's plenty of opportunity ahead.
We appreciate Zach Cagle and the entire Jasper Tractor team for welcoming us, introducing us to their customers and showing us around their corner of North Georgia.
We'll see you on the road.
