Daily Compact Equipment Safety Checklist

For most of you reading this, summer is one of the busiest times of the year. We all know that time is money, and when the projects start lining up, we need our equipment to be reliable and safe. Here is a valuable daily safety checklist from Takeuchi Product and Training Manager, David Caldwell.

Success Starts with Fleet Management

In the construction industry, fleet management tends to be the job that can make or break the success of an organization. When your crew isn't working because of breakdowns, or it takes them more time to do the work because they don't have the right machine for the job, timelines get extended and profits are quickly gobbled up. From making sure your equipment is where it needs to be, and ensuring maintenance needs are up-to-date, to making equipment acquisition decisions, fleet management can be a daunting task.

Opportunity Knocks

Owner Bo Smith and his team have been hard at work delivering on that goal since 1999. "I started my business specializing in lawn maintenance to residential and commercial customers," says Smith. "We quickly built a reputation as being an organization that delivers good work and soon our customers were asking us to do other work like landscaping, irrigation and hardscapes.

Building a Legacy

The equipment rental industry in Canada is forecasted to generate nearly $4.6 billion in revenue in 2013 according to the latest figures from the American Rental Association. By 2017, it is projected to generate up to $5.3 billion. This growth is indicative of the trend towards rental after the downturn in 2007 — contractors that have been unwilling, or unable to make investments in capital equipment have turned to rental as a low-cost solution. Although the large consolidated rental companies generate a significant portion of this revenue, there is most certainly something to be said for the smaller guys.
