2012 In Retrospect
2012 was quite a year not only for Takeuchi, but also the industry and customers we serve. At the beginning of the year, while somewhat reserved, I believed that the economy would gain strength and that the construction industry would continue to experience a slow but steady growth rate. Needless to say 2012 was a good year that enabled Takeuchi to expand its footprint by adding new lines of distribution, increase headcount, and further expand our product offering.
Meeting the needs of our end users is always a top priority here at Takeuchi, and the best way for us to support our valued customers is to provide a strong distribution network that is able to meet their equipment, parts and service needs. Throughout North America, Takeuchi added fourteen new dealers to further support our growing customer base. We welcome the new distributors to the Takeuchi family and we look forward to helping them expand and grow their business by providing their customers with the finest light construction equipment available today.
New Products and Innovations
Takeuchi was no stranger to new product introductions in 2012. We launched two of the most powerful track loaders in our history, the TL10 and TL12. The new track loaders feature advanced EPA Tier 4i compliant engines that provide an outstanding blend of power and performance. We added features to help the operator work more efficiently and comfortably. The cabs are now pressurized providing a clean comfortable work environment. A new “Eco Mode” function can improve fuel economy up to 15% by limiting the engine’s speed to 2,400 rpm, and when the engine load is less than 30% engine speed decreases to 2,040 rpm after 8 seconds. Also new to the TL10 and TL12 are the variable flow auxiliary hydraulics that offer three easy to select settings that can be programmed to match the flow requirements of the attachment.
Perhaps one of the most anticipated and exciting products we released in 2012 were the skid steer loaders. These new machines provide Takeuchi customers with a wide range of options including the choice of three radial or three vertical lift path models. Like our track loaders, the new skid steer loaders feature a purpose built, all welded uniframe design that is sure to provide years of trouble free service. Additional features include low effort pilot controlled load sensing hydraulics, outstanding digging forces, powerful tractive effort, class leading ground clearance and angle of departure, available two speed option with tops speeds up to 12 mph, and a unique boom design that allows for over-the-tire tracks to be installed without the use of spacers.
On behalf of Takeuchi I would like to thank our distribution network, customers, and our employees for all they do to ensure Takeuchi’s continued success. Thanks to everyone’s hard work, Takeuchi is poised for even greater accomplishments and continued growth going forward into 2013.
