GIE+EXPO 2012
John Vranches, Takeuchi National Sales Manager

At the end of October, the Takeuchi team packed their bags and shipped up to the 2012 GIE+EXPO in Louisville, Kentucky for the very first time. What an incredible show! Thousands of exhibitors in the turf, landscape, hardscape and light construction industries shared their latest products and innovations at the Kentucky Exposition Center on over 19 acres of indoor and outdoor exhibition space!

This was our first time attending the show, and we were warned about the weather. Apparently, as many veteran exhibitors and attendees will tell you, it can get a bit chilly in Louisville; chilly, and wet. But we lucked out and had perfectly warm, sunny weather on the first day of the outdoor exhibits. We had demo units set up in our outdoor exhibit space and were encouraging attendees to try our excavators and loaders, and at several points throughout the show, we had lines stretching clear out of our booth!

On the second day of the show, we did wind up getting hit with cold temperatures and rain, but we still had lines of people waiting to demo our equipment—though we think it was probably because our comfortable, climate-controlled cabs offered a much deserved respite from the weather!

We released our new TL10 and TL12 Tier 4i track loaders back in July, but GIE+EXPO was the first time that many folks were able to see them in action. These are our most powerful track loaders to date, and the people that had a chance to operate them at the show were truly impressed with their power, maneuverability, and premium operator stations.

In addition to showcasing our newest track loaders and other compact equipment, we also announced a new line of skid steers to complement our current offering. We hope that this illustrates our commitment to the needs of the marketplace, and to the needs of every contractor—big and small.

We had a great time out in Louisville, meeting new friends and seeing some familiar faces as well. After a big show like GIE+EXPO, it is easy to reflect on what a joy it is to be a part of the industries that we all serve. That being said, if we didn’t see you out at GIE+EXPO, we hope to see you in Las Vegas at The Rental Show in February.

Take care, and have a wonderful Holiday season!
